Seniors Reaching Seniors...
This program provides new approaches and support for senior citizens who require stabilization or resolution of issues which threaten their independence. The support group serves individuals who are experiencing chronic and/or acute emotional problems. Seniors Reaching Seniors is for individuals who may be faced with being placed in a more restrictive environment such as an inpatient unit, nursing home or state hospital. Seniors access these services to resolve anxiety, depression and isolation and to simply feel happier and more productive during their "Golden Years" of life.
Our Philosophy :
The Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program of the Bowen Center is committed to making a difference in the lives of the seniors we serve. Our professional team, which consists of psychiatrists, registered nurses, social workers, and therapists, provides effective help with a full range of personal concerns. We are united by our common mission: To provide the most effective therapy with long-lasting results in the shortest possible time.
Through our model of solution-oriented therapy, we seek to identify and utilize the strengths and resources of each client to promote lasting solutions. Rather than focus on weaknesses, blame, or dwelling on the unchangeable past, we focus on changing actions and behavior patterns to promote good relationships, healthy interactions and improved satisfaction with life. When you work with a staff member of the Bowen Center, you will find an atmosphere of respect, caring, concern and growth.
Family Therapy :
The Geriatric Intensive Outpatient team will address family concerns as they relate to each client's overall treatment. Our staff has a strong commitment to preserving and enriching relationships, whenever possible. The Intensive Outpatient Program clients will be guided toward meeting the goals they have set for themselves and for their family. Our goal is to help each client promptly arrive at practical solutions.
Personal Difficulties :
Everyone struggles with difficult challenges sometime in life. Seniors especially suffer loss, depression, nervousness, relationship problems, stress or other personal concerns. The Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program provides an opportunity for seniors to enhance knowledge and skills that will enable them to communicate effectively, recognize and resolve potential crisis, and regain control of their lives.
Regaining Independence :
Many seniors lose their independent living skills due to stress, depression, loss of confidence and life transitions. The Seniors Reaching Seniors Program utilizes the experience and advice of peers to address topics such as understanding emotions, stress management, assertiveness training, life management, and community integration. This will help enable seniors to regain independence, while fostering an atmosphere of cooperation through positive peer relationships.
Fees :
The Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program has a range of fees, depending on the service provided. The program meets all Medicare and Medicaid standards, and services may be covered by either of these sources. All or part of the cost of counseling service may be reimbursable through third party insurance. Check your individual policy regarding your particular benefits. We can assist you with verifying insurance coverage.
Education and Seminars :
Our approach, helping people discover and use their strengths, is reflected in the educational opportunities and classes we offer. Seminars on various mental health topics are available for presentation at your office, school, church, business, or other mental health agency. If you would like us to speak to your organization, please call 574-267-7169 or, in Indiana, 1-800-342-5653.
Professional Development :
We have an experienced and talented faculty who seek to promote quality care by providing training to other mental health professionals interested in our work.
Limits of Confidentiality :
We will keep each visit and what is talked about confidential. We use a team treatment approach, so we may consult with our colleagues here at the Bowen Center for help and ideas for resolving concerns. We will not let anyone outside the Bowen Center know anything about visits here without written permission. However, there are a few situations in which we must break that confidentiality, either because we are required by law to do so, or to keep someone from harm. Although these situations rarely occur, we thought you should be aware of these requirements.
We may break confidentiality when :
• We suspect a client is being neglected, physically or sexually abused and it has not been reported to authorities.
• We discover that someone's life (yours or someone else's) is in danger.
• Your records are demanded under court order
