Bowen Center Elderly Services...

As mental health professionals, we realize that aging can sometimes be a difficult process. Losses of loved ones, loss of property and belongings, and loss of independence due to physical and mental decline, are some of the major elements that contribute to the challenge of aging. Some are able to travel the road of aging with minimal difficulty while others struggle to maintain a sense of self worth. While feelings of sadness and loss are common among the elderly, issues such as depression and anxiety are not a normal part of aging We want to help those who are struggling by offering support and encouragement. To this end we are beginning to develop services in a few strategic areas. We hope to expand our services into all of the counties that Bowen Center serves because we want to be able to meet the needs of the elderly that live in our communities. In the meantime, you can contact one of our county offices to get information about what services are being offered in your area.

We currently serve six different Nursing Facilities in Wabash and Kosciusko and Marshall Counties. We provide outpatient and/or intensive outpatient services to selected residents in these facilities. We do assessment and evaluation of mental health needs for both residential and nursing facility placements. We are willing to meet with families to discuss the need for nursing facility placement and to help the resident and the family adjust to the changes involved in this transition.
